The Waroona District Primary School section caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Current enrolment numbers are approximately 173 students.
The Primary School is composed of two sets of buildings. Our Early Childhood Learning Centre with two classrooms surrounded by an exciting playground with vegetable/sensory gardens and fantastic play equipment. Our Primary Block comprises 8 generously sized classrooms and two all-purpose wet areas. This block is also surrounded by beautiful gardens and modern, colourful play equipment.
The Primary School offers a challenging but also a nurturing educational environment. We have a strong focus on developing strong values within our students and this is strengthened through our continued focus on the Positive Behaviour Support Framework which encourages students to be Considerate, Aspiring, Responsible, Engaged and Safe.
Our motivated teaching and non-teaching primary staff ensure the Western Australian Curriculum is delivered effectively and our close relationship with our community ensures that we communicate openly and regularly with parents and carers to support student progress. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is a strong focus area in our school and we ensure our students are exposed to this aspect of the curriculum in fun and engaging ways. Students are provided access to modern IT equipment including laptops and tablets to support their learning.
We are an accredited Waste Wise/Water Wise and Sun Safe school and have recently introduced a Story Dogs program which sees trained dogs and their handlers enter the school to support reluctant readers.
Our yearly highlights include our Faction and Interschool Athletics Carnivals in term 3, Swimming Carnival in term 4, a Winter Sport Competition during term 2 with local schools and our annual focus on Book Week.
